When young ski racers are ready to be evaluated, creating the optimal assessment conditions to promote a high level of skier engagement is achieved by following the suggested pre-planning and assessment day tips.

Different context, different approach

  • Clubs can use the program and framework as per their needs and to match their mission statement or Club objectives
  • Some Clubs will use it solely as an awards system at the end of the year and other will use it diligently as often as possible to level-up the progress of the ski racers.
  • At Alpine Canada we believe that it is in the best interest for Clubs and for the future of young Canadian ski racers, to make this program the corner stone of their development program.

Best Practice Evaluation Methods

The following are some suggested Evaluation Protocol when using the Strive Program, it should be emphasized that there is not “1 size fits all” approach.  Utilize the protocol for evaluation that best fits your Club model.

Ongoing Method

From the start of the season to the end of it.  The coach uses the program to establish where the ski racers performance is, what they should focus working on and constantly evaluate the ski racers progressions and achievements. The coaches enters the results of the ski racer each time an athletes achieve a skill or an evidence. Therefore, the program becomes a measurable LTAD template and enhance constant intrinsic motivation and self-esteem. This should be done at the Club by the coach.
